Perma Pure PD-Series™ gas dryers are multi-tube Nafion dryers designed for high flow, high performance gas drying applications. These dryers can be used to dry to -45°C without removing other compounds. PD-Series dryers consists of a bundle of 0.030″ O.D. Nafion tubes housed within a single large tube shell. Feed gas flows within the Nafion tubes while water vapor absorbs into the tubular membrane walls and is removed. Moisture permeating the tubing is carried away by a dry purge gas within the shell that flows countercurrent to the feed. Purge gas should be instrument quality air (-40°C dew point) or nitrogen flowing at two to three times the sample flow rate.

Perma Pure’s heated MDH-Series gas dryers were specifically created to dry gas samples with dew points higher than ambient temperature without requiring separate heating elements or Ninsulation. Proprietary Nafion technology selectively removes only water from sample gases, leaving the rest of the gas sample unaffected. Unlike chillers and condensers, Perma Pure’s MDH dryers remove water directly from the vapour phase, preventing the loss of water-soluble gases through dissolution in condensate.

Designed to handle gas flows of up to 1.5 lpm, the heated MDH-Series gas dryers can dry gases with as much as 30%water by volume. The compact design can be incorporated easily into analyzer cabinets or used as a stand-alone device. The dryers are currently available for use with 110 VAC. More details ....

AS™–Series Ammonia Scrubber FB™-Series Inertial Bypass Filter FF-250™ Series Filters HD™–Series Heatless Dryer

Perma Pure Ammonia Scrubbers are designed to remove ammonia from a gas stream to protect the analyzer from clogging due to the formation of ammonium salts. Ammonia is a highly reactive gas. It is sometimes added to stack gases to reduce the nitrogen oxide content of the gases by conversion to nitrogen and water (the DeNOx process). When present in gas samples, ammonia will readily react with other components such as sulfur dioxide in the sample to form ammonium salts. This salt is relatively low-boiling, so it is present as a gas at the higher temperatures in the stack and in the heated line. When the sample cools down while passing through our dryer, it precipitates out as a solid, clogging the dryer or analyzer. For this reason, we recommend installing an ammonia scrubber inside our system to prevent damage to our dryers and to the analyzers downstream.

FB-Series bypass filters are inertial separation filters for high particulate load applications. Used upstream of fine particulate filters, FB filters greatly increase the life and performance of particulate and coalescing filters. Flow can be passed through under pressure or pulled through under vacuum. Perma Pure offers a compressed air-driven eductor and a heating system as options.

FF-Series filters from Perma Pure are high efficiency particulate and coalescing filters designed for high temperature corrosive service. Used as a coalescer, this filter removes liquid droplets and particles down to 0.1 micron with an efficiency of 95% or greater. The thick, high capacity borosilicate glass and Teflon filter element uniformly drains coalesced liquids to the bottom of the housing, where they are evacuated through the 1/8″ NPT drain port. For particulates, the filter removes 95% of all particles 0.1 micron or greater, with a low pressure drop and long element life.

Perma Pure HD-Series heatless dryers are ideal for low flow air drying operations. Dryer operation is fully automatic, and outlet dew points as low as -50°C can be achieved.
HD dryers consist of two chambers filled with highly adsorbent desiccant. The standard desiccant is molecular sieve 4A. One chamber dries the gas stream while the opposite chamber is regenerated (purged). Purge air is a small portion of dried air taken from the drying chamber, expanded to atmospheric pressure and flowing countercurrent through the regenerating (wet) chamber. Wet purge air is released from an exhaust port in the vapor state so that no drain is required. Purge air volume is controlled with an orifice housed within the unit. Purge air may be vented directly into the surrounding atmosphere, or it may be piped to a remote location. Once electrical power and air pressure are supplied to the dryer, it is ready to be used.
